DBPOWER D2 4K Review

The DBPOWER D2 is a budget action camera, a great GoPro alternative. DBPOWER is a tech international brand with a focus on creating consumer gadgets, along with action cameras such as this DBPOWER D2 or it’s latest camera DBPOWER 4K. It claims to offer 4k quality and 12MP pictures. It comes with a multitude of accessories so you can use it to get better footage.

The DBPOWER D2 is waterproof and comes with a pretty long-lasting battery. The protective case is waterproof and impact-resistant, which makes it possible to shoot videos underwater up to 30m. It also comes with a rechargeable 1050mAh battery to never let you miss a wonderful time while going on your adventures!

But before we talk about its features, what comes in the box of the DBPOWER D2? It comes in a small black cardboard box with remote control inside for your sports cam and the battery for the action cam.

DBPOWER D2 was pretty successful with this model but we recommend to go with a higher more quality action camera by DBPOWR such as the DBPOWER 4K for a bit higher price than this one.

The DBPOWER D2 has an elegant modern design, it has a minimalistic design with good quality plastics and it has a black color. Its design is similar to most action cameras, it feels pretty durable and with the waterproof housing, it can go underwater up to 30m (100 feet). All attachments are sturdy and the waterproof case is made of high-quality plastic which makes its waterproof level up to 100 feet and protects the camera from damage in normal use.

The dimensions of the DBPOWER D2 are 7.8 x 4.4 x 2.4 inches and a weight of 1.15 pounds, with a single button on the top, like most action cameras, which is used to take pictures and videos from it and select options on the menu, but all the adjustments and controls will be made from the rear touch screen a 2-inch (5 cm) LCD touch screen.

On the front, we can see a the power off and power on the button to turn off or on the camera. As for its buttons, there are only 4, one on top, to start and stop recording or to take a picture and another in its front part and two on the side, the rest of the menus and settings we can change with the 2 ″ rear touch screen, which really gives this camera a spectacular design.

Photography

The photography on the DBPOWER is pretty decent, it can capture with its OV4689 sensor up to 12MP pictures with a 16:9.

In bright sunlight, the colors look pretty natural with a bit of saturation, with the whole picture showing more contrast than the GoPro, it records in MP4 / H.264 H.265 video format.

The DBPOWER D2 also does pretty well shooting underwater and it’s a great low-budget camera to have to get some simple shots when going diving or snorkeling

Video

The DBPOWER D2 can record videos at 4K/25fps, 2.7K/30fps, and 1080P/60FPS and some more video resolution, it records with real native 4K. It has decent image quality for being a low-budget action camera, it uses a 170° wide-angle, and is able to provide videos and photos even in low light.

The configuration by default is well balanced, the images are sharp enough, the sky does have the tendency to go towards the classic little the too blue and has overall pretty nice colors. But of course, being a low-budget action camera don’t expect any amazing looking results, like GoPro Hero 8 can achieve (If you would like to check out our review click here).

Should you buy it?

The DBPOWER D2 is a decent quality GoPro alternative that you can get. It has some pretty good features and covers all of the basic needs of an action camera, for example, the ability to go underwater even though it needs its housing, if a great beginner low-budget sports cam.

A downside of the DBPOWER D2 is its stabilization since its low-quality and pretty shaky, I recommend getting a gimbal to get smooth steady footage. It also comes with an equipped 2-inch touch screen as well as coming with a very complete accessory kit. It is also compatible with most accessories like all of the GoPro accessories. The D2 uses a decent Li-ion 1050mAh batteries, batteries which can last up to 120 min.

This sports action camera is an average low-budget camera with affordable price, I recommend getting this camera for beginners looking to start recording their adventures without spending too much. Being a low-budget action camera don’t expect to have GoPro quality or high-end brand quality. If you wanna check some other action cameras, medium and high-end click here!
