Design

The AKASO Brave 7 has a sleek and rugged design that is compact and lightweight, making it easy to take with you on the go. The black matte finish is stylish and gives the camera a nice high-end look. One of the standout features of the AKASO Brave 7 is the 2 screens on the back and the front of the camera, making it easy to frame your shots and adjust settings.

Like most new sports cam the AKASO Brave 7 can also go underwater without the waterproof case, it can go underwater up to 10m (32 ft), all of the compartments close well and under pressure, avoiding the entry of water, which gives the Brave 7 an IPX8 rating.

On the front, we can see the lens, and the front screen. On the upper side, there is the shutter button similar to most cameras, on the left side, there is the microSD compartment slot, the battery compartment, and the USB-C-Port connector, on the right side, there is the mode button to turn off and on the cam. The touch screen is responsive, so you can quickly switch between modes and settings with just a few taps.

The dimensions of the Brave 7 are 6.3 x 4.3 x 3.3 cm (2.5 x 1.7 x 1.3 inch) and its weight is 180g (6.3 ounces).

Battery

The AKASO Brave 7 uses a powerful 1350 mAh battery that can last up to 110 minutes of recording time. This powerful battery ensures that you can capture all of the action without worrying about running out of battery mid-shoot.

One thing to keep in mind is that the battery life will vary depending on how you use the camera. If you’re shooting in 4K and using the 2 screens, the battery life will be shorter. However, even with heavy use, I’ve found that the battery lasts long enough to capture your adventures.

The battery lifetime of the AKASO Brave 7 makes it an ideal camera for outdoor adventurers and travelers who want to capture their experiences. The Brave 7 only comes with 1 battery, you can get a 2n battery and quickly switch them out whenever the first one runs out to have double battery time.

Stabilization

Like most newer action cameras, the AKASO comes with good Electronic Image Stabilization 2.0 (EIS 2.0) with a 6-axis gyroscope. This stabilization system is designed to smooth out any shakes or vibrations during filming, resulting in a steady and smooth shot.

Electronic Image Stabilization technology (EIS) is particularly useful for action shots and when you’re moving around a lot, such as during outdoor activities, sports, or even walking.

Being a medium-budget sports camera the stabilization isn’t as good as the higher-end cameras such as the HyperSmooth 5.0 stabilization from GoPro. If you’re looking for very smooth video and you’re willing to pay a higher price tag, the GoPro might be worth considering.

Photography

The AKASO Brave 7 can shoot 20MP pictures, packing in more pixels for greater clarity and detail. The camera also has a variety of shooting modes, including single shot, burst mode, and time-lapse mode. Additionally, the camera has a 170-degree wide-angle lens, which makes it easy to capture a wide view of your surroundings.

The AKASO Brave 7 also offers multiple settings, including the ability to adjust exposure, ISO, white balance, and more. This means that you can fine-tune your images and videos to your liking, giving you complete control over the final product. Additionally, the camera offers a range of filters and effects that you can use to enhance your images and videos.

Video

The AKASO Brave 7 comes with pretty good video quality, it’s capable of recording 4K video at 30 frames per second, 1080p video at 60 frames per second, and 720p video at 120 frames per second for slow-motion shots. The camera also has a 170-degree wide-angle lens, which helps capture a wide view of the action.

In terms of video quality, the AKASO Brave 7 does a great job for a budget-friendly action camera. The 4K footage is sharp and detailed, with vibrant colors and good contrast. The 1080p footage is also impressive, with smooth motion and good detail. The slow-motion footage at 720p is a nice touch, giving you the ability to create dramatic slow-motion shots.

The Brave 7 comes with a front touch screen, which is perfect for vloggers and to set up your shot perfectly without having to look at the back screen. It also comes with a range of accessories that allow you to attach it to your helmet, tripod, or any mount so you can get the perfect angle no matter where you are.

The video resolutions of the AKASO Brave 7 are the following:

  • 4K at 24fps / 30fps
  • 2.7K at 24fps / 30fps
  • 1080P at 24fps / 30fps/ 50fps / 60fps
  • 1720P at 24fps / 30fps/ 50fps / 60fps / 120fps

Audio:

The AKASO Brave 7 audio quality is decent, but it is not its best quality. The Brave 7 has a built-in microphone that records audio in stereo, and it is capable of capturing sound from a reasonable distance.

However, the audio quality is not as good as some other action cameras on the market. The microphone tends to pick up a lot of background noise, especially in windy conditions. This can result in audio that is muffled or distorted.

Features

The AKASO Brave 7 has multiple features to improve your videos and be able to stand out while making recording fun.

Voice Control: Controlling your AKASO Brave 7 hands-free is made possible with voice commands such as “AKASO Video Start” and “AKASO Take photo”. This feature makes capturing photos and video recordings effortless with just a simple voice command.

Visual Remote Control: The AKASO Brave 7 camera can be controlled remotely using the 2.4GHz wireless remote, allowing a visual remote control experience. This wireless remote adds convenience and ease of use to the action camera. The built-in LCD screen displays the shooting status for quick confirmation, making it even more convenient to use.

TimeLapse mode: The AKASO Brave 7 offers a timelapse mode that is perfect for capturing the passage of time. This mode allows you to take a series of photos at set intervals and then compiles them into a video, creating a mesmerizing effect.

External Microphone Input: The camera features an external microphone input, which allows you to connect an external microphone for better audio quality.

Should you buy it?

Overall, the AKASO Brave 7 is a good action camera that offers a lot of features at an affordable price, its 4K resolution video and 20MP photo capabilities are pretty impressive, and the camera’s electronic image stabilization is decent, waterproof ability, and good battery life makes it a reliable option for capturing all of your outdoor adventures.

However, it’s important to note that the AKASO Brave 7’s video quality is not on par with more expensive action cameras like the GoPro HERO9 Black or DJI Osmo Action. The color accuracy and dynamic range are not as good as these higher-end cameras. But for the price point, the AKASO Brave 7’s video quality is impressive and more than sufficient for most users.

In conclusion, the AKASO Brave 7 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a medium-budget good action camera. If you are looking for a better action camera you should check out the new GoPro Hero 11 (Check out review here).
