Blade Glimpse FPV Review

The Blade Glimpse FPV is a successful drone by the Blade brand. Simrex is a pretty big producer in the drone market with some very successful models especially on sites such as Amazon, in this blog, we review the Glimpse a  powerful medium-end foldable drone. It offers 720p video quality with a 120º FOV lens. It also comes with WiFi connection which provides you with faster but clearer image transmission.

The Blade Glimpse FPV is a great beginner’s drone or for the more experienced users as well, it also has an affordable price and good video quality. The Blade Glimpse FPV also comes with various modes such as the “Headless flight” mode which is very useful, were the drone will fly forward wherever you are facing.

Like most drones, the Blade Glimpse FPV is a quadcopter drone with 4 propellers with protection. The camera of the Blade Glimpse FPV is mounted on the drone, a downside to this drone is that the camera doesn’t come on any gimbal or stabilization for the video.

Inside the box, we can find the blade glimpse drone with 1 battery, 2.4 GHz 4-channel transmitter with a smartphone holder, an 8GB Micro SD Card, an SD adapter, a USB battery charger, 4 green rotors, 4 white rotors, and a blade warranty.

Blade’s controller is also very good, it’s comfortable and easy to use with its dual handles, above the controller you can put your smartphone of all sizes when it runs out of battery you just need to charges it with its charging cable. The Specs

The Blade Glimpse drone uses a 720p camera with WiFi connection and FPV. The Glimpse can go as far as 25 meters with a video connection. It also has a powerful 500 mAH batteries.

Your smart-device gives you access to the hottest trend in RC. The Glimpse drone allows you to stream live 480p video via 5.8GHz Wi-Fi downlink. They have even included a universal bracket that makes it easy to attach your smart-device to the transmitter.

It also comes with many modes, the “3D Flip” or “Headless mode” mode, it also has advanced altitude hold, this option will make the drone fly up a few meters and hold its position.

 

This drone also comes with a rechargeable 500 mAh batteries. The Glimpse drone allows you to fly up to 8 minutes when they’re charged.

Control

The Blade Glimpse doesn’t come with any stabilization so if you want a more stable flight and video you’ll have to fly slower and not fly in windy conditions.

The drone’s controller is comfortable and nicely made, its round and has phone support above for phones of all sizes. The controller has the 2 joysticks to control the drone as well as buttons to control the modes such as the one key take-off and landing

Battery

The Blade Glimpse comes with a rechargeable 3.7V 500mAh battery which you can charge with the USB Battery Charger, which can last about 8 minutes recording at 720p.

The battery is situated at the bottom back inside, where there is a cover that gives access to the battery. The Glimpse comes with a battery so you can change them whenever the first one runs out when the first one runs out you can put the first one to charge right away.

Design

The Blade Glimpse feels well built with good quality plastics, it has a flexible airframe and is very lightweight to allow you to become a drone pilot even if you bump into a few obstacles when flying. The configuration means the rotors are clear from camera view and the enclosure offers extra protection., it feels pretty durable and has the ability to replace and switch pieces such as the protectors and propellers. It can fly up to 25 meters with a video connection.

The dimensions of the Simrex drone are 15.3 x 8.4 x 4.4 inches and weighs 1.83 ounces, it’s a decent-sized drone,  all the adjustments and controls will be made from the controller and its screen with the live video, it also comes with a smartphone attachment for it to fly in FPV.

The drone has a classic quadcopter look with or without protective propellor blades, you can choose what you prefer, under the body we can see the small landing legs and the 720p camera to record your videos.

Modes

The Blade Glimpse comes with many useful modes. Such as there ability to do flips and tricks and impress all your friends and family.

The Blade Glimpse drone has a great mode called SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology, a revolutionary electronic flight envelope protection system that makes it easy for anyone to fly drones such as this quadcopters. Its intuitive capabilities allow the drone to battle windy conditions so that performance is consistently smooth.

Pitch and roll limits are locked to offer a flight envelope that makes staying in control easier. The electronic self-leveling brings the drone into a hover attitude the instant you release the sticks for stable image and video capture.

The Blade Glimpse has also multiple flight modes, the headless mode allows you to fly no matter what direction the aircraft is facing, the forward stick is forward, and the back stick is backward. 

The Blade Glimpse also allows you to change between different flying speeds, high and low, which helps beginners fly slower at the start.

My opinion

The Blade Glimpse drone is a good small drone, FPV and agile to fly and easy to learn to fly as well, its a good option for most people who are looking for a great budget-FPV drone with a great price, it’s a great option for beginners and more experienced flyers who want to upgrade to a better drone as well.

The Glimpse has pretty good flight, decent flying time, and video support with 480p FPV, it also comes with coreless motors The quadcopter includes a robust group of motors and a rotor design that’s ideal for drone operation.

The Glimpse is pretty easy to learn and will get you all those great aerial shots you would want in a drone and the great features it has will help you, it also carries 1 500 mAh batteries which will give you plenty of time to record your videos.

The 720p camera is situated on the front of the drone and thanks to the LED lights at the front we can see where the drone is flying and easier for night-time or low-light flying, we can also see LED in the bottom which indicates the calibration.

If you are looking for an FPV drone, this one will work well as well, it supports FPV and can go as far as 25 meters and can come back with a single button. Being a low to medium budget drone don’t except to get cinematic results or as good as other high-end FPV drone or video quality of DJI drones.
