The DJI Mavic 3 Classic is the new high-end drone from DJI, the Mavic series drones have already earned a reputation for being some of the best drones you can get. DJI is a big producer in the drone market with some successful models, especially on sites such as Amazon.

The difference between the Mavic 3 Classic in comparison with the Mavic 3 are just the telephoto lens, cine model cam, the pro-resolution, and the 1 TB storage. The DJI Mavic 3 Classic comes with a new Hasselblad camera like the previous Mavic 2. Like other drones it has a foldable design and good-quality propellers and motors, the DJI Mavic 3 Classic is easy to carry and fly.

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone can record up to 5.1K and take pictures up to 20MP. The Mavic 3 Classic uses a small gimbal for the camera which gives some nice stable videos with your drone camera. The Mavic 3 Classic uses a 4/3 CMOS sensor and comes with a Hasselblad Camera which captures great image quality. 

The camera on the drone can take pictures at 5280×3956 pixels and 5120×2700p video. It uses an 84° FOV lens with an aperture of f/2.8-f/11. The max video bitrate when recording in H.264/H.265 at 200 Mb/s.

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic can fly as far as 15 km (9.3 miles) with video transmission and can fly up to 30km (18 miles). It can fly at a max altitude of 6000 m above sea level. The Mavic can fly at 21 m/s horizontally, it can ascend at 8 m/s, and can descend at 6 m/s. It uses GPS + Galileo + BeiDou system to fly.

The Mavic 3 comes with a rechargeable 15.4 V 5000 mAh battery, the battery allows you to fly for up to 46 minutes when they’re charged. The drone can fly with temperatures up to -10° to 40° C (14° to 104° F).

For the photo format, it uses a JPEG format or DNG for RAW, and as for the video format, it uses MP4/MOV (H.264 / H.265). The Mavic 3 Classic supports up to 512GB SD cards, it supports MicroSD SDXC or UHS-I cards.

Video and Flight

Flying with the Mavic 3 Classic is pretty easy, the drone is responsive and flies well and accurately. The drone has a decimeter-level high-precision positioning making Mavic 3 Classic extremely stable when it’s hovering. 

The Mavic 3 also comes with Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing which detects objects in all directions in real-time. This allows DJI Mavic 3 Classic to avoid obstacles, even in complicated environments making flying easier.

The Mavic 3 Classic comes high-quality L2D-20c aerial Hasselblad camera which will give you impressive-looking footage, the camera comes with 3-axis self-stabilizing gimbal technology, which will provide clear pictures and smooth videos and will keep the footage steady.

The image quality on the Hasselblad camera is impressive it uses a Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) that offers natural vivid colors and sharp clear images. Thanks to its 10-bit D-Log color mode, the Mavic 3 Classic delivers a more natural sky color gradation, retaining more detail to allow for greater flexibility in post-production.

The Mavic 3 Classic can transmit live video distance of up to 15 km. The transmission video transmits at 1080p/60fps live feed which feels pretty responsive.  This means the camera view is displayed at specifications close to what the camera actually records

Battery

As for the battery, the Mavic 3 Classic comes with a rechargeable Pro intelligent flight 5000 mAh battery which you can charge with the USB Battery Charger, which can last about 46 minutes, it takes about 1:30 hours to charge the battery.

The battery is situated at the bottom inside, where there is a cover that gives access to the battery. You can also always buy separate batteries for it and change them whenever the first battery runs out.

The Mavic 3 Classic drone comes with a single battery, if you plan on recording for a long time you can get a 2n battery so you can change them quickly and keep recording whenever the first one runs out.

Design

The Mavic 3 Classic has an elegant modern design, it is well built with good quality plastics that feel pretty resistant, and it has a nice light-grey color. The Mavic 3 is capable of being folded to be carried easier.

Its design is the classic quadcopter look with 4 powerful propellers similar to most DJI drones, it feels pretty tough and can resist up to 12 m/s (Level 5) of wind. If one of your propellers got damaged you could replace and switch them.

The dimensions of the DJI Mavic 3 Classic when extended are 34.7 × 28.3 × 10.7 cm (13.3 x 11 x 4 in), when the drone is folded its size is 22 × 9.6 × 9 cm (8.6 x 3.8 x 3.5 in) and its weight is 895ug (2 lbs).

The Mavic 3 Classic comes with Omnidirectional sensing, we can find multiple sensors on the Mavic, multiple backward, and downward dual-vision sensors on the drone design.

Modes and Features

The Mavic 3 Classic comes with many modes and features to make flying easier and more fun.

The Mavic 3 Classic comes with advanced return home mode. One-touch low-power return or out-of-range return. Whether your drone loses connection to the transmitter or runs low power, the DJI drone is designed to safely return to its point of origin.

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic is equipped with advanced omnidirectional obstacle sensing. This allows you to fly confidently and safely wherever you are, it offers a broader sensing range and enhanced safety.

MasterShots allows you to choose a subject then the drone will execute a sequence of pro maneuvers, generating a short cinematic video afterward, an awesome feature that will make anyone look like a pro videographer.

HyperlapseSpeed mode will let you speed up time with just a few taps by creating a unique hyperlapse or timelapse video creating the famous time-lapse effect. 

Panorama mode captures the vastness of any landscape with incredible Wide-angle, 180°, Vertical, and Sphere panorama shots.

Cruise Control mode is capable of controlling the drone to fly in any direction without having to continually use the remote controller. This makes long-distance flight effortless, but also helps reduce shakes during manual control for smoother camera movement.

Waypoint Flight function brings the automated flight experience to new heights. Mavic 3 Classic can automatically plan a flight route based on the waypoints preset by the user, and can precisely repeat routes.

To be able to use the DJI Mavic 3 Classic on your smartphone you need the DJI smartphone app that you can easily install and take control of the drone and fly with it and control its features and modes.

My opinion

The DJI Mavic drones are one of the most popular and best drones you can get, they are a perfect middle-ground drone with every aspect being great,  it has an excellent camera capable of 5.1K, it can fly for up to 46 min, and many more cool features, although it’s a pricey drone I recommend the Mavic 3 Classic.
